Son of a .....
I loved - LOVED - the very last line of the hour: "Son of a bitch." uttered by (who else?) Jack. Why's he saying that this time? Because Tony has nicked Jane Saunders and escaped CTU all in the name of saving his wife.
I could talk about the implications of what Tony has done all night. About whether it's any different than Jack following Gaines instructions to save Kim - instructions that were to culminate in the assassination of a Presidential candidate. I've seen Tony taking a lot of flak on various forums. People are calling him a traitor and that he's condemning millions of people to death for purely selfish reasons... But his dilemma really does parallel Jack's various dilemmas when he had to break the rules for an endgame he could tell no one about. Then again, Jack always seemed to be able to think one or two steps ahead of the baddie and find his way out of the situation. So far I don't think Tony's doing that. One minute he's almost collapsing with relief at Michelle's test results, and five minutes later he's watching a knife come perilously close to carving out one of her beautiful eyes. I think that's all he's concerned about.
Anyway, tonight's episode was fantastic. Sherry's back again with a venomous proposal that actually might bring Palmer down this time. Jane Saunders thinks Jack is scary. Chloe is like Super Geek saving the world one data stream at a time. Adam is grieving for his sister yet plays the role of Chloe's sidekick well once she warns him she's watching his logs. Kim's back to helping her dad who's just forced Tony to step down as Director. Jack's suspicious of Tony after the raid on Saunders' location fails to yield Saunders. Tony's running around like crazy trying to cover his ass and save Michelle without giving himself away...
Great stuff all around and roll on next week! Full recap should be done sometime tomorrow. Oh and the kidlet agrees tonight's show rocked :)
