    12pm - 1pm

My first thought when Jack raided the warehouse and saved the SoD and Audrey was, "Err, there's still 19 hours left. There's no one else to save." I should never have doubted though. By the end of the hour of course the entire United States was in some pretty serious jeopardy :)

Needless to say this was another rockin' hour. Heller was seconds away from execution in front of millions of Internet viewers, the president had given up on saving him (Wuss! Palmer wouldn't have given up!) and a strike team is only minutes away from erasing the place. Jack goes in alone and starts popping terrorists left and right after finding Audrey alone and despairing in her cell. She bravely asks him to save her father first and after a meaningful look between them, he does.

Fabulous action scene ensues and bam, Heller, Audrey and Jack make their way outside in time to find help from the backup brigade who take out the remaining terrorists. Earlier however, while still held hostage, Audrey had recognized one of the captors. During the identification process of the bodies later on, she couldn't find him amongst the dead. So he's on the loose now and Audrey can't remember his name.

Meanwhile back at the Evil Cleaver's house, another associate of Navi's (Navi Araz, the father) named Tariq comes over to help dispose of Debbie's body. At the site of Tariq, Behrooz suddenly realizes that Tariq has another job to do apart from disposing of Debbie - namely killing him. That's right. His own father is having his son killed.

This bothers Dina (the mother) tremendously and when she learns that Berhooz is with Tariq, she burst into tears crying, "Why? Why?" But meh. I don't feel sorry for her at all. I found the scene hypocritical as this women had no concern whatsoever for Debbie's mother. She had no issue with callously poisoning an innocent, if foolish teenager. hy should I feel sorry for her that her son's going to die? It's Behrooz I feel sorry for.

Not to worry though because he's not stupid - though it does take him ages to attack Tariq as they dig a hole in the desert to bury Debbie. But eventually he clonks him good with the shovel and runs away. You go Behrooz.

Back at CTU, Heller and Audrey are there doing their debriefs. It's here that I think Jack would like nothing more than to take Audrey in his arms and hold her until she's no longer traumatized by the morning's events. But he can't as their love affair is secret and Audrey's estranged husband shows up wanting to have another go at their marriage. There was one golden moment thought that just - ugh- got me good. As Jack passed Audrey she grabbed his hand and they stood there for just a moment, facing away from each other yet reassuring one another all the same. It was stunning and so well done that it's the dominant image from this episode that I have in my mind.

*sigh* Glad she's okay. Jack needs some happy. The other agents are busily sifting through evidence from the warehouse and come across a lead on a briefcase, now empty, that ties the kidnapping to the train wreck earlier in the day. It's a logo. After tracing it they come to find that the briefcase contained was a device that would override a nuclear (Just for future reference 24 actors, since we're dealing with all things nuclear again this season, if I hear one actor pronouncing it 'Noo-cue-ler' instead of 'Noo-Klee-er' I will scream and bitch about it incessantly here.) power plant in case of emergencies. It could also make a plant meltdown but that would require some major hacking on the plant's firewalls and someone would notice that... unless there was an unusually high amount of net traffic that morning due to, I don't know... the broadcast of the SoD's trial and execution? Ruh-roh.

So the whole bloody thing was a diversion and now the "next phase" of the day's events are going to be put into action.

And to top it all off, Carrie Redux, AKA Marianne the office beeyotch seems to be a fecking mole. I say seems to be because although she made a sneaky sneaky phone call to a contact to tell him CTU discovered the override device, we don't know who the contact is yet.

Argh! Then again it wouldn't be 24 without a mole somewhere :)
