I love Aaron
Tonight I had my hands clapped to my mouth following a loud gasp as Jack Bauer shifted his position so he could plunge his knife deep into Walt Cummings' skull and carve out his eyeball. Right. In front of. The President.
That fucking rocked. It scared me.
Is this season getting better with every episode? It's not just me thinking that right? We had a couple of firsts tonight: The first time we see Jack Bauer break up with someone by his own damn choice for a change. I felt sorry for Diane but it was terribly obvious Jack still loves Audrey. The other first was a bigger role for Agent Aaron! He's not just a doorman anymore!
So a quick recap because my bed's looking mighty inviting...
Jack twists (Hey Jack Twist. Yeah, I saw Brokeback this weekend) the info out of Spencer that Logan's chief of staff helped orchestrate the hostage sitch at the airport and facilitated the removal of the nerve gas. We were treated to a gross video the Pres had to watch of the effects of similar (but less dangerous) nerve gas which leads me to believe some of this stuff's gonna leak.
Jack convinced by-the-book McGill to let him set up a secret meeting with Mike Novick since he's not affiliated with CTU anymore and McGill made me like him more because he eased up on the anal retentiveness and let Jack do it.
Before Jack left, he ran into Diane who was leaving with her son. I have to say that if I were dating Jack Bauer I'd definitely prefer him to break up with me as gently as he did with Diane. Beats being shot or executed. Jack admitted to Diane that he was still in love with Audrey. A few minutes later, Diane sort of confronts Audrey. She told her to let Jack go if she didn't love him anymore... problem is Audrey does still love Jack.
So Audrey calls Jack as he's about to meet Novick and they have a mushy moment and all I could think was, "Damnit Audrey now is not the time! The man's got enough going on!" I mean, cool the woman Jack really loves still loves him and stuff but ugh!
Meanwhile Nick Knight (has he been given an identity yet? I may have missed it. Til then I'm calling him Nick) intercepted Jack's call to Mike requesting the meet and he alerts Cummings. So Cummings has no choice but to go to the President. Admittedly when he walked in the room with Logan I was hoping he was going in there to assassinate him but alas. I really dislike Logan's character. I suppose he serves a purpose but he's annoying the crap out of me. Instead, he told the president he orchestrated the morning's events, including the assassination of President Palmer. I'm a little fuzzy on the details here (my kingdom for Tivo :( ) but Cummings then convinces/blackmails the president into believing the nerve gas isn't headed out of the country to the Russians but instead will be detonated at a terrorist camp in Central Asia in order to fabricate and justify a war over WMD and oil...
I'll leave that alone because the comments are just too easy.
Anyway, as Jack meets Mike, he's surrounded and taken into custody. But then comes one of my favourite things about Jack - his uncanny ability to make anyone, ANYONE do what he needs them to do even if it's against their will. He knows exactly what to say, how pleading to be, how forceful... Jack convinces my favourite Secret Service agent Aaron that Cummings is a danger to the President. So Aaron lets him out, lies to his own agents and lets Jack into the room with Cummings and Logan. Jack then proceeds to beat the tar out of Cummings and of course he did the aforementioned near-eyeball carving. Which of course worked.
The nerve gas that was about to be shipped to Russia was tracked but when they broke into the cargo container all they found was a bunch of empty boxes and a dead body. Seems Badger discovered a double-cross and is now vowing revenge. Tick boom.
Ahhhh I know I'm missing a few things but for some inexplicable reason I'm so sleepy tonight. So i'd better go to bed. But I just want to say that I truly hope the rest of the season stays at this high-intensity level. It's incredible so far. My favourite bits included more of Aaron's quiet steadfastness, Jack's ripper tendencies, and ore potential angst as Jack might have to "disappear" again when this is all over causing more grief for Audrey.
Ahhhhhh I love this show.

"Btw, you're so darned sleepy because Jack Bauer wore you out!"
Thank you for brightening my day by giving me very pleasant mental images of the ways jack Bauer could wear me out :) Most of these only involve handcuffs too so Bonus!
I figure people don't leave you enough love <3<3<3
I love your Blogs! There so awsome!
Ryan <3
I just love your wonderful recaps! :D Having guest recappers (sp?) is nice, but I enjoy yours the most. :)
Nick Knight is called Nathanson. It had been mentioned once, I think. But it was just thrown in and easy to miss.

Aaawww, try to imagine being in her place. Last time she broke up with him and he 'died' before she got the chance to tell him she was wrong and she still loves him. And now he decided to go on this crazy mission and the possibility is high he won't come back to CTU ever. I can understand of her being selfish at that moment. What if something happened to him and she hadn't told him AGAIN? How could you live with that? I loved the scene. :) Even if the timing was so '24'. :)
Hi Melia,
Once again, a great summary of the best episode so far this season. I loved when Jack was laying into Walt. He was taking out a lot of his anger resulting from Palmer's assasination. I didn't think we'd see this subplot wrap up so quickly. And the transition to the next subplot was classic 24 writing.
I love the fast pace of this season; hope the writers and producers can keep it up.
Hi, I found this blog and I wanna say that I love this show! I"m brazillian and I saw 4 seasons...
