ReviewMe.com
*This is sponsored review. I'm being compensated for writing this*
So, a new service apparently launched yesterday, called ReviewMe and I heard about it from Neatorama. I thought it sounded nifty actually since I'm always looking for ways to support this website that doesn't involve begging people for donations.
The goal of ReviewMe is to put advertisers with bloggers to give them another way to pimp their products. Since I'm addicted to blogging about as much as I am to 24, I figured I'd give it a go.
It's a straightforward website with probably the fastest, least complicated signup process I've ever seen. I literally signed up 5 minutes ago and am now reviewing ReviewMe for my first twenty bucks (this is to kickstart their Big Launch.) Advertisers pay anywhere from $20 to $200 per review, depending on the size and popularity of your blog. They use tools like Alexa and technorati rankings to judge your blog and since 24addict is my biggest and busiest site, I'll hopefully be doing this every now and then :)
I like this idea myself, because it feels less intrusive than a flashy banner and those of you guys who don't want to read this can skip it easliy enough.
The other cool thing that caught my attention is you aren't required to write a glowing, positive, gushy review. If you have a problem with a product or whatever, you can say so. ReviewMe says they're looking for honesty, and right in their advertiser FAQ, it tells them blatantly that, "We do not allow advertisers to require a positive review."
I think that's smashing.
They will pay their reviewers via monthly check or PayPal deposit which I also think is great. I hate waiting on the mailman to bring me stuff when it can be transfered as if by magic via the intertubes.
So basically, I have to say that my first review is kind of gushy and glowy but I like what I'm seeing so far. Check it out if you like and if not, here's a pretty picture of Kiefer:
