    "I lost control." 2pm-3pm

Intensity thy name is Kiefer Sutherland. There just is no other actor on television who can compare - in my limited opinion. I could be biased though so please don't send me hate mail expounding the virtues of Hugh Laurie or anything like that.

We start out with Fayed landing somewhere and talking to Gradenko (remember him? He got the nukes into the country via Phillip Bauer's company.) Gradenko is irritated with Fayed for leaving the nuke behind for Jack to disarm. Fayed says the remaining three nukes will suit their purposes just fine.

At CTU, Morris arrives back and though Chloe tries to go to him, the nurse ushers him off to medical.

Jack then arrives back and speak to Bill about Gradenko. When he walked in though, everyone in CTU sort of stopped to stare at him. Is it because they're seeing him back for the first time since China? My memory is fuzzy.

After Jack talks to Bill and learns that Gradenko may be in L.A., he goes to Chloe and has a nice moment with her. We almost got a smile out of Jack as they thank each other for their work so far. I really enjoyed that. Jack then goes on to medical to see his father and God, Jack's father actually freaking makes Jack feel bad for killing Graem. What a dick!! Argh! Phillip responds to Jack's questions about Gradenko by laying 'blame' on Graem - easy to do since Graem's dead. He tells Jack he'll call some execs and see what they know about Gradenko. This is after he lays more guilt on Jack when Jack asks where Marilyn is. I want to throttle Jack's dad myself.

Chloe visits Morris who's feeling some guilt himself about what he did. He refuses to let Chloe comfort him. Chloe tries her best to cheer him up with a pep talk but he's not having it. He makes her leave so he can brood.

In the halls, Phillip makes a call to someone letting them know Gradenko is L.A. and that they need to eliminate him. His contact assures him Gradenko will be killed. Phillip says he'll monitor CTU's activities and try to find out where he is.

As Jack reports back to Bill on his chat with his dad, Buchanan makes Jack sit down and go over Graem's toxicology report. He tells Jack that he's seen the field tape and read the reports. He says Jack's responsible for Graem's coronary. Jack loses it a little.

"I lost control. I tried to tell you I didn't think I could this. This job. I wanted to kill my brother. I wanted him dead. I was standing over him and I looked up and I saw my father in the doorway... and then everything just stopped."

Bill offers to alter the report but Jack refuses to let him. Bill says he can't have an IA investigation on top of the Fayed search because Jack is critical to that. But Jack says, "Whatever the consequences are, I accept them. Bill? Do this right."

"Ok. I'll submit the report as is." replies Bill.

    *sigh*

Meanwhile, back at the House of Palmer, he and Assad are going over Assad's speech when the Veep calls. He's making a plea for Palmer to reconsider Lennox's agenda. Palmer refuses. The Veep tells him that he stands alone on this matter.

Lennox "sneaks" off to this secure location to meet Reed, looking pretty suspicious as he goes I might add. Reed lays out the plan: I have powerful friends. We all love this country. I think Palmer is weak. Let's kill him.

Lennox questions who Reed's "friends" are but Reed only tells him the Veep is not involved. He asks for Palmer's itinerary and Reed says he'll get it for him after Reed comforts him with words like "plausible deniability."

At CTU, Jack takes Marilyn aside to see how she's doing. She surprises him when she says he doesn't owe her an apology about Graem's death. She's not bothered by it. She's been trying to leave Graem for years but was held hostage in a way because Graem would threaten to take Josh from her.

As Jack turns to leave, she asks about the nukes. This leads to her finding out that CTU is looking for a Russian named Gradenko. She tells Jack that she followed Graem once when she thought he was having an affair. She was looking for ammo in a divorce. She followed him to a house in West L.A. She heard Graem talking to Russian men inside and then she took off. Jack asks if she could remember the house if they tried retracing the route. She thinks she can.

As Jack goes to ask Bill for permission to try this lead, Phillip sidles into the hall with Marilyn and discovers what they're going to go do. Marilyn asks Phillip to stay with Josh but Phillip tells her he thinks it would be better if he took Josh to his house so he'd be in familiar surroundings. Marilyn agrees and clears it with Bill. Eesh. This can't end well.

Phillip makes a call before he leaves with Josh to his shady contact and tells them to find and secure a house in West L.A.

Chloe tries to get Morris to come back on the floor. At first it was an attempt to get him over his self-absorbing brood but as he carries on feeing sorry for himself, Chloe gets pissed and thwacks him. Hehe. Have I mentioned I love Chloe? Finally she tells him to get over it and get back to work.

(Commercial break includes a trailer for the show "Drive" with Nathan Fillion. Woot! Captain Tightpants!)

Jack and Marilyn have a moment as they try to find this house. She asks Jack if the reason he left for the military was because of his father. She asks if he was pressuring Jack to join the company. He dodges the question after telling her she wasn't one of the reasons he left.

Marilyn gets a call from Phillip. Sitting next to Jack she takes in the news that Phillip is threatening to kill her son if she doesn't lead Jack to a different house in West L.A. Phillip drives the point home by telling her he killed Graem (yay! So eventually Jack will know he didn't kill Graem)) and he's willing to do the kid in if she doesn't comply.

Marilyn does as she's told and leads Jack to the fake house.

Gradenko, meanwhile, is working with a lackey to program in coordinates for the remaining nukes. He says that Russia lost the cold war because it was afraid to use these weapons against the Americans. Today they will correct that mistake and the Arabs will take all the blame. So yeah, look for various anti-Russian Stereotype groups to protest the stereotyping of cold war Russians after this episode.

Chloe helps track Jack and gets a little backlogged when Morris comes back out on the floor to help. He got over it :)

At a hotel somewhere, Phillip leads Josh to a room as Josh demands answers about his father's death. Phillip is just there to wait out the events at the house Marilyn is leading Jack to.

As Jack pulls up to the house, Marilyn tries to talk to Jack but keeps getting interrupted. Then Jack and the team move in to storm the house. There is, of course, a bomb. Jack leaps out a window just as it explodes and Milo shoves Marilyn into the SWAT van as he is pursued by Phillip's men.

And I got my wish from earlier today as Milo kicks some ass saving Marilyn from Phillip's men. They drive off, shots are fired at them, Milo loses control and crashes. Phillip's men keep shooting at the van but they have orders not to kill the woman. Milo ducks back into the van and pulls the pins on a hand grenade or two and grabs a gun as well. They run off as the van explodes giving them valuable time to escape.

    It was cool :)

We close on Jack who's disoriented and calling out for his men to sound off. No one does.

Great stuff tonight folks. A little more backstory for me on Jack, Manly Milo saving Marilyn and some awesome Chloe moments. Colour me content :)

My recap from 1pm-2pm is below.

There's a song by Kate Bush that goes like "wow wow wow wow wow, unbelievable!". That's today's two episodes. Now I'm liking Marilyn more and more. And Milo, too. I just can't sleep tonight after watching these two episodes.

Yes, great 2 episodes. And I even got 2 of my 3 kids in bed by the start! Ahhhh, morphine...is there anything it can't do?

You got your Milo wish indeed, Melia. Who knew your wishes were somebody's command? Way to go, Glorificus. Now can you please wish for Milo to take a bath? That hipster-doofus look is so 1997. And while you're at it, can you wish for Tony to be not dead?

My only winge is Gredenko...oh puleese, a moldy old Soviet Commie? I'll hold my groans while this unfolds. I actually have been a little concerned in real life about Russia's disturbing resurgence (Polonium, anyone?), so maybe it's not such a crazy idea after all.

Good fun! Love the panting, too.

How is it possible for Morris to come back to work after that torture? Normal people would be totally out of commission for a long long time after that kind of experience. Morris is no Jack Bauer. Maybe this is part of the plot, and Morris will be revealed to be a mole and end up getting killed by Jack in the end in front of Chloe.

Melia, sorry I'm about a week late in posting a comment but I think you forgot something in your review. How about that sweet look Jack gave Chloe in CTU when they saw each other for the first time that "day"? OMG! I just love it when Kiefer gives that look! They should've hugged or something. Absolute best moment of the 2hrs last week!
