    1pm - 2pm

Trying something a little different with this cap now that I have a spanky laptop. Blogging as I re-watch last week's show. I do apologise for not being more prompt with the recaps but real life alas has taken priority so I have to squeeze this in when I can.

    Anyway...

Audrey has just told Jack that she recognized one of her captors and she talks Jack into letting her accompany him to view the security tapes of a function where she thinks she saw this guy. Paul, her husband has put it together that she is seeing Jack now and he's decided to play jealous husband after procrastinating on fixing their relationship. He tells Jack, "She is my wife. Don't you forget that." Jack just sort of grunts, "Yeah." and leaves with Audrey.

Meanwhile Marianne feigns having to give some files to Jack and wrangles the info on their destination out of another CTU agent. She phones her contact to tell him where they went and he tells her that Jack and Audrey are to be killed. marianne wants to get out of CTU because she'll be sussed out as the mole when that happens. But she's still needed inside so her contact tells her to divert suspicion.

WTF is up with her? I've seen some comments that Marianne is a triple agent or something and really working for another agency. Not sure if that's true. Why would they need Jack dead?

Anyway over to the Evil Cleavers and Behrooz phones his mom and tells her that he's killed Tariq - who was sent to kill Behrooz by his own father. Dina tells Behrooz to meet her at a train station but Navi overhears the call and they have a bit of a blowout. Navi forcefully tells Dina to meet Behrooz as planned and Dina can see that he'll be watching from a distance so he can kill his own son himself. *shudder*

Next we get a brief but lovely moment of Jack and Audrey in their SUV on the way to view the surveillance tapes. They hold hands for a moment and she apologises about Paul.

Navi's boss, Marwan (aka the guy from 'The Mummy.') orders Navi to fix his mistakes with his son.

Back again at CTU, Edgar figures out a way into the kernels of the power plants and thinks he may be able to disable them and stop the whole thing. There's quite a bit of geekspeak most of which boils down to Edgar being able to regain control of the reactors if he's careful. But one wrong move and he'll start a chain reaction which I'm assuming will screw the US over pretty good.

Another phone call from Behrooz to his mother and we discover that he is truly feeling remorse and guilt for everything his family is involved in. He's antsy and wants to go to the cops. Dina convinces him to wait for her there. Navi tells Dina that he will be following her when they get to Behrooz and that she is to take him to a certain place. Alone, she drives off to meet her son.

I'm still not familiar with everyone's names at CTU but the new guy in control of Field Ops tells Driscoll that they've been able to successfully take 87 plants offline but they're working on the rest of them. Driscoll tells him to keep working on it and goes down to see her daughter who's having a schizophrenic episode.

Back upstairs, Heller goes to visit his son who's been subjected to sensory deprivation torture for hours. He never broke so CTU has no choice but to let him go. Heller's son is not so forgiving and tells him he hates him before walking out. Heller just can't seem to get through to his son.

Paul calls Audrey and tries a desperate attempt to win Audrey back while Jack is forced to listen to her end of the call. You can cut the awkwardness with a butter knife. Audrey agrees to give Paul more time but I think she just said it to get him off the phone.

At the trainstation, Dina arrives to get Behrooz but as she pulls in she yells at Behrooz to get out and run for the train because his father has followed them. He acts like a deer caught in headlights utterly frozen with indecision until his father opens fire and hits Dina in the arm. He jumps in the car and they take off. Navi gives chase but they soon lose him.

Upset, Navi goes to Marwan's headquarters which seems to be a restaurant of some kind and ashamed, he tells Marwan he's failed. He asks for assistance to track them and Marwan reluctantly gives it. We get the feeling Navi's on his last chance.

Jack and Audrey have arrived at the security company and Marianne calls Jack to tell him to pipe all video to her system. They head in to view the tapes.

Back at CTU though Driscoll notices that te doctor's gave her daughter a drug she's allergic to and her daughter goes into arrest. Driscoll watches helplessly as they try to revive her. They must have been successful though because soon Driscoll is giving an update to the president and no mention is really made about it. It was quite odd.

At the same time down that the security building, Jack and Audrey are watching the tapes when they suddenly come under attack. They check the cameras and see several thugs making their way into the building. Jack grabs a flash drive and downloads the data of a file that Audrey recognized and they try to stealthily leave the building. They've barely got any weaponry and are cornered. They sneak into a room and Jack makes a call... "Who are you calling?" asks Audrey. "The only person I can trust right now." answers Jack.

This is when I thought he might be calling Chloe :)

After the final ad break, we come back to CTU where Driscoll is briefing the president about the reactors. Heller comforts her after he learns what's going on with her daughter. Then we cut back to Jack as he and Audrey make their way out of the building but they become cornered in a garage area. Outnumbered and out of ammo, Jack desperately gets ready to just whack someone with the butt of his gun as they come up on them. At the very last moment gunshots are fired and the thugs go down and the camera pans over to... Tony!!! And there was much rejoicing at my house :) It was a fantastic surprise for us and completely unexpected. The joys of remaining unspoiled for this show are paying of bigtime.

So Jack, Audrey and Tony run off and get away. Woot!

Now we have the final split screens and they show Behrooz driving his wounded mother, Driscoll's daughter recovering (missed that before so she must be okay then.) and Jack Tony and Audrey driving off. Cutting back to CTU, Heller and Driscoll are coming over to Edgar's station where he is making his final attempt to dig around in the reactor kernels to stop the meltdowns.

He sends the final commands and for a few tense moments we watch the reactors on a big screen and they begin going offline. One by one the reactors go green... all except a few. Six of the reactors are immune to the shutdown codes because the overrides have gone into effect. Heller says Jack better find whoever's responsible for this or we're fooked. Well he didn't quite put it like that, but the message is basically the same.

    Tick boom.
