4pm - 5pm - Alex
The time is 4pm and it's time for episode 10!
I'm currently wondering what amazingly cool thing they're going to have Jack do in this hour, honestly; if he's not holding up gas stations then he's no-selling getting hit by a car, Hulk Hogan eat your heart out! I digress.
Yadda yadda yadda...Previously..a reactor melted down and some guys got baked, therefore the ONLY person who can save everyone is Jack or maybe Edgar's mum with her wheelchair of doom..oops not this year as she says goodbye to poor Edgar (that scene made me shed a tear...damn male emotions). It looks like Paul Raines (An embarrassment to Englishmen everywhere) is in this episode, something I can live without.
Poor, pretty Sarah was tortured for no reason, how would you not believe a face like that?! Then Henry Powell was killed, leaving me wondering exactly what his role was at all, maybe I missed something and Marianne Mole was arrested..HA.
The dream team of Jack and Big Tone caught up with scary Dina and cut a deal, she talks if Behrooz survives, "easy enough" thinks Jack, he goes along to pick up the lad and in a cruel twist of fate Navi turns up, takes his son into a basement, knowing he only has to wait two hours for the bloody reactors to meltdown, but two hours in 24 is a long time and unless Jack saves Behrooz, Dina ain't talking.
Did you get that?
It's just after 4 and Jack calls CTU telling Erin that Navi's on the move with Behrooz, indeed he is and he's choking the lad, probably because he's dragging him by his neck. Use the arm Navi, the arm!!
Some explanation to The SOD to those that may have missed it, Navi's worried that if he kills the boy then Dina will talk, I still think that torturing Dina would have been a better idea, some of that sensory diversion technique, but anyway SOD is worried that Dina might not be trustworthy, look at the eyes Jim, how could she not be trustworthy? Jack has whatever he needs to get the kid. And what he needs is some good old fashioned thermal heat scanning of the basement, I want some of that, I don't know what for but I want some. He also needs to take Dina with him, Hey! He's seeing Audrey.
Navi levels Behrooz and reveals that he's no son of his because he's weak and stands for nothing, Behrooz asks if that'll make it easier for Navi to kill him, he gets evils for that one. Navi puts something in his phone and calls Marwan. He explains what's going on and tries to get Marwan to speed up the meltdowns. No can do big guy, it's going to take up to 2 hours because the American programmers would be able to stop simultaneous meltdowns, which confuses me, surely it would be harder to stop 5 Nuclear Power plants melting down than one? I think they should put Chloe on the case, get it done in five minutes with enough time for a sarcastic comment as well.
CTU's found the Araz boys, Jack's going to have to go in through the laundry chute, he now needs a repelling harness, I think we're going to go all Mission Impossible here, unless he just wants to slide down into a big pile of laundry! Dina is coming into play, like a last minute substitute when you're one nil down.
Edgar's timing estimates for casualties are not up to date so Driscoll shouts at him, cutting him no slack whatsoever when his mum's just died, but it could be worse, she could threaten him with jail like she did last week. He busts her on it and she apologises but says that she needs him and he agrees to do her bidding. He explains to The SOD that the programmers can slow the override down but not stop it, SOD repeats for what seems to be the millionth time that we have to find the override and Erin explains the situation with the Araz's, she also tells us that Cool Curtis is about to interrogate Marianne Mole.
And he does, but very poorly, not even up to Ronnie standard interrogation, although he does refuse her a lawyer, and when she tries to cut a deal he's having a none of it "You get to live, that's your deal" Someone's tetchy.
Marianne says she knows no Henry Powell, Curtis responds by bringing in his dead body, he's a sick bastard according to Marianne, but she seems a bit shocked to find out that CTU didn't kill him, and makes a face when Curtis tells her that if he lets her go she'll be dead in 15 minutes. I'd be willing to take the chance.
She claims she was sent into CTU to cover Powell's tracks especially after Audrey saw him at the terrorist compound, but Marianne knows no more names, she knows sod all really, crap mole. But wait...there is a computer at an office that has names on it, but it needs a thumbprint from either her or Powell. Seeing as he's copped it, it's going to have to be her, they could cut his thumb off, but Jack must have the hacksaw.
Jack's going all Ethan Hunt on us now in this episodes "Cool Moment", but first Big Tone explains to Dina that she has to call Navi and keep him talking for as long as possible, if she talks as slowly as she normally does and keeps whispering, I think we'll be okay.
Down Jack goes, as I break into a smile, stuff like this makes me really love 24, and then Dina phones Navi, we don't get to hear too much of the conversation but the gist is that she wants him to release Behrooz and he's pissed because she's cocked up the plan. Using his dentists mirror Jack confirms that Behrooz is alive and he drops to the floor, releasing his harness, as Navi is getting angrier and angrier on the phone the harness retracts but hits the laundry chute resulting in a loud *clink* which everybody hears. Navi goes to investigate armed and ready, but this is Jack Freakin Bauer, he's got no chance. During the struggle Navi drops his gun which Behrooz picks up, and when Jack has Navi's hands behind his head, ready to take him in......BANG, see you Navi, Behrooz looks stunned, Jack could be pissed but he's not and orders him to drop the gun, Tone then barges through the door and takes Behrooz. You know, for someone who doesn't want to kill, Behrooz has done all right for himself today...a professional assassin and his terrorist father, both no more.
Now Dina talks, but she doesn't know where the override is, all she knows is an address where they got their assignments from, it's all she knows. Jack and Tone are heading there, but Dina and Behrooz are too, woo! My thoughts on Jacks investigation are as follows, CHECK NAVI'S PHONE!! It worked with Powell!
It's 4:15pm
It's 4:19pm- Curtis isn't sure he believes Marianne about the computer file. SOD wants to know why he's suspicious and if things are affecting his judgement. I wish they would give SOD a bit more to do than what amounts to admin. Audrey and SOD want Curtis to go to the office with Marianne, Erin thinks it's a bad idea because she's short of manpower, if she's not torturing them, she's firing them, I don't know! SOD orders Curtis to go, Curtis and Erin aren't happy, but orders are orders.
Driscoll apologises to pretty Sarah who a friend pointed out looks like how Claudia from S3 should have looked before a pan hit her in the face. Sarah agrees to go back to work even though she thinks Erin has no faith in her, but what the SOD says, goes so she had no choice but to believe Sarah was the mole.
The dealings at Powell's office will take 15 minutes apparently, Curtis puts a tag on Marianne's leg even though she insists she won't run away. She's trying to be all seductive but it ain't working girl. All he wants is to put her in jail for treason.
SOD has to stay at CTU to man tactical things or whatever, so Audrey ends up going to wherever DOD needs her to go, can't that woman stay still?!
We're still at CTU and Sarah sits down at her station, Edgar says he heard rumours of what they did to her, but she shrugs it off and asks to be brought up to speed, she's pissed that they're letting Marianne out of CTU, but all she has to do is support Jack in the field.
Jack and Tone arrive at the address, they go in but there's nothing there....Or is there? Ever the observant one, Jack spots a power cable which leads to a trapdoor, which leads to Narnia....wait, no it doesn't, but it is a room filled with plans and pictures of the train that was bombed, of the SOD, so the terrorists WERE here, but aren't now. So are they out of leads?...they could check Navi's phone.
It's 4:27pm
It's 4:31pm- Maybe there is a lead, the building has very complicated ownership details and a company called Galaxy Financial Services have something to do with it.
At the terrorist planning centre (TPC) Jack only wants info on the nuclear plot, Sarah calls him and tells him that one of the General Partner's of Galaxy Financial is PAUL RAINES.
She patches Jack through to Audrey and he tells her about the address, "It's a great find" she says, didn't like that line, don't patronise Jack! He then tells her about her (Ex)Husband, she finds it hard to believe, but she has his number so she'll give him a call and find out his location, how casual! You know in England it's illegal to be on the phone whilst driving!
She calls him and I have to endure his stupid voice and poncy face again, he's about to check out but she tells him that she's having second thoughts about them getting divorced and he invites her over or rather she invites herself over. If she screws him, I'll kill them both personally.
Jack wants the TPC gone over with a fine toothed comb, he wants Tone to take Dina and Behrooz back to CTU, Tone sulks for a bit and basically says he doesn't want to go to CTU. Jack says "Over the last two hours I watched my friend come back to life" which raised a chuckle. He can get Tone reinstated if he wants, but Tone's not sure.
Gutted; Jack walks away reminding Tone that he saved his and Audrey's life. Then, with some really nice music playing he agrees to do it and thanks Jack....Awwwww. Jack then makes sure to undermine that Agent Castle bloke by telling him that AGENT Almeida will be driving Castle's car.......Owned!
Audrey calls Jack and tells him that she's going to see Paul at a hotel, Jack is angry, he thinks it's dangerous and he's right, if you spend too long with him you might end up either A: Looking like him or even worse B: Getting his accent. Audrey is being a stubborn bitch and insists on going, she's going to keep Paul there until Jack gets there. Jack just sighs and thinks of Teri, or Kate, or Claudia or even Nina.
It's 4:38pm
It's 4:42pm- At CTU, SOD gets off the phone with Jack and has a conversation with Erin, asking if she has a problem with Tone's reinstatement, she doesn't....Yeah right. She tells him about Paul Raines and the building and Audrey, he gets annoyed, everyone gets annoyed, the whole world is annoyed. He should have been told sooner, he leaves and Erin pulls her hair out, she'll been joining her daughter in the clinic soon.
Woah, it's actually taking a while to get somewhere in LA, Curtis asks Marianne about Paul Raines, but again she knows nothing, I think the bash to her head affected her in some way, lets face it, it couldn't have made her any less charismatic. Anyway, she's going to do whatever she can to help Curtis and CTU, they'll be there in five minutes for the ten minute job, which should finish just in time for the end of the episode...hmmmm.
Audrey is at the hotel but SOD rings her and basically forbids her not to go because of how dangerous Paul could be, she doesn't think he is because she knows him. She's at the hotel room.
24: When Tone met Erin, Tony introduces Dina and Behrooz, Erin's going to have them tort.....I mean interrogated anyway...sadistic cow. She gives him his badge and agent gear. Tone's history is not an issue apparently because Jack and SOD vouch for him, so Tony's going to interrogate Dina and Behrooz, lets hope that Dina doesn't do a Nina, it's all in the eyes! Tony doesn't buy any of Erin's nicey nicey BS and sure enough when he leaves she asks Sarah to monitor his activities, but Sarah's not doing it without a reward, a two level promotion and a huge bump in pay. Oooh, I like this, the idea of a power struggle inside CTU, maybe a way to introduce a certain former character. Anyway Erin agrees to the promotion and we're starting to see some cliques develop, I'm hoping they go somewhere with this.
At the hotel, Paul answers the door, quick blow the room up! He's glad she came and has brought her favourite Champagne. First beer, now Champagne, is there anything this woman won't drink? There's a lot of talk about their behaviour and how he shows up, sees her with Jack and suddenly he's got this fancy champagne..blah. He still has feelings for her and she must have too according to him, as long as she's not playing games, but she doesn't play games. They toast as the camera focuses on the glass. Is it too much to hope that he's going to poison both of them?
It's 4:49pm
It's 4:53pm- Jack calls CTU asking if backup has arrived at the hotel, but they're in traffic. Holy shit! Traffic! In 24! *faints* Jack wants someone, anyone to get in that room ASAP, even Dina Araz if it comes down to it! There will be no fibre optic cameras or any other shenanigans, he doesn't want to upset Paul in any way, apart from sleeping with his wife, that's allowed. We also learn that Curtis and Marianne are about to get into the computer file, so let's head over to the office downtown.
At the office downtown Curtis is paranoid because it's empty, he thinks it's a trap. It's not, Marianne assures him, she just wants to stay alive. She gets into the room and the security team claim that it's clear. He closes the door, bad idea. If you keep the door open you can see what's coming..Old pornography trick.
She gets into the files but it needs another password, luckily she knows it but she's also extremely preoccupied and keeps looking through the blinded windows into the hallway.
And there we go; in barge three men with big guns demanding Curtis drops his weapon, I assume they're American, at least two of them are. Marianne tells them that she told CTU nothing, but it doesn't matter she's as dead as Liverpool's Premiership hopes and Shotgun Type Thing Man plugs her twice, Curtis drops the gun and they take him hostage, they known who he is though and the bald guy who seems to be the leader asks how far CTU are in their investigation. He is defiant; good man.
Back at the hotel, Paul wants to move to Washington, Audrey isn't really saying much, and Paul tops up her drink. He's getting suspicious now and insinuates that maybe they should be doing more than talking...I swear to God *Shakes fist* He wants to know why she's really here, she's crap at lying. She wants to leave but he stops her with a little bit of force, nothing too serious, but all of a sudden JACK bursts into the room and he lets go of Audrey, Paul knows he's been set up and all Jack wants is answers, Paul's not talking to Jack...I would talk to Jack if he was holding a gun at my head, if he was holding a teddy bear to my head he could break me, Paul needs a reality check. Jack punches him square in the jaw, for the hell of it, it's how he gets his kicks.
It's 5pm.
I'm currently wondering what amazingly cool thing they're going to have Jack do in this hour, honestly; if he's not holding up gas stations then he's no-selling getting hit by a car, Hulk Hogan eat your heart out! I digress.
